DIGITAL & STEREOGRAPHY

Thanks to a great experience on many shooting cameras, Gianluca Dentici knows techniques, methods and quality advantages of traditional film as well as digital. The quality of images shot with digital cameras is affected by many factors such as technology, sensor type, size and resolution, sensitivity, shutter type, optics (35mm or digital), data compression methods, etc.. All these elements influences crucially the final quality of any visual effects and, in general, the aesthetic result of the movie. Experience, research and study of the most advanced digital workflow for editing and post production ensures best visual results while maintaining an high quality profile throughout the entire post production process from vfx to screen, expecially during conforming, color correction and output on film or DCP (Digital Cinema Package).
Gianluca Dentici provides consultancy and connections with laboratories to define the most suitable workflow and data treatment, by defining also LUTs, formats, file types and exchange methods.

The evolution of digital systems really facilitated the development of techniques and visual expression tools used today by artists in many industries not just the movie; Is really evident, for example, that stereography and 3D cinema benefited greatly from this digital era.

Gianluca Dentici has used many stereographic shooting systems, such as mirror, side by side like P+S Technik, Element Technica or Panasonic enhancing techniques and tools for strereographic production and post production and supervises shootings as DOS (director of stereography), as well as visual effects and finishing. Thanks to a depth knowledge on most powerfull stereographic software tools and techniques he can also deal with dimensionalization for movies originally shot in 2D.

Gianluca Dentici is a member of I.3D.S. - International 3D Society, the prestigious international association of technicians and artists of 3D movie industry .

Stereoscopic phenomena is very simple; it is known that human eyes capture two slightly different images (interocular distance), this difference is processed by the brain and give the perception of "depth". Stereographic technique allows to re-create the same conditions of vision, by shifting two cameras of a known interaxial distance. Of course, since the two generated images are binoculars (one for each eye) for a correct view the audience must wear special glasses and lenses. Thanks to innovative shooting rigs and image processing tools is also possible to even expand the depth of the spatial elements of a shot by immersing the viewer more in the action and give a strong emotional and perceptual experience caused by the proximity of scene elements. Before shooting stereo a proper analysis on certain scenes must be conducted with director, cinematographer and DOS. This step is important either to prevent technical difficulties for specific shots and define a specific 3D language for the movie.
