PRE-PRODUCTION

A rigorous study in pre-production is the key of success of every professional production. At this stage, storyboards, animatics and previz are essencial and reliable tools to analize the script and discuss shooting needs with producers, director, cinematographer and vfx supervisor.

Gianluca Dentici is always involved during pre-production meetings and script reading to discuss issues, supervising and post production concerns. Great attention is paid to define work plans, set up any second unit for practical effects and for eventual additional footage for vfx; Besides, set supervising guarantees correct shooting methods and a feasable post production.

The growing interest in 3D cinematography gives even more importance to pre-production phase, more than ever! This is true in order to avoid problems and mistakes that may compromise the appeal of stereoscopic effect and cause the visual failure of the movie. For this reason a proper analysis on certain shots with director, cinematographer and DOS (director of stereography) is needed. This step is very crucial either to prevent any technical difficulties on specific shots, define the visual style and thus the influence of depth effect created by stereographic shooting: the 3D language.

Gianluca Dentici works with Marco Letizia, storyboard artist and illustrator of great experience, for the construction of shooting boards and study of complex visual effects scenes.
